On a calm, cool May morning 58 anglers from all over the state of Oklahoma hit the bricks to 3 small lakes owned by the city of Ardmore. In the end angler Luke Aryan came out on top with 88.75", and a payday of $835. Moreover, the OKA gave away a plethora door prizes from sponsors such as: Dobyns Rods discount certificates, Flambeau tackle boxes, Tourneytag swag, lures from Nabatak Outdoors, Castlure bait packs, OKA t-shirts and hat, and finally two 15 amp hour lithium batteries and specialty lures from event sponsor Amped Outdoors.
A change was made to the top 5 placers as angler Jason Ray was deducted .25" due to the fishes tail being raised off the measuring board. This deduction put Ray in 4th place instead of 3rd place. Also, during the awards OKA President Avery Metcalf made a mistake and announced the payouts at 100% of entry fees instead of the normal 80%. This mistake was quickly noticed and the anglers notified. It is easy to say that OKA Event #4 Ardmore City lakes presented by Amped outdoors was a huge success.
Angler Luke Aryan was able to best the other 57 anglers with 88.75", Aryan's stringer was anchored with a 21.25" kicker largemouth. Fishing at Scott King Lake, Aryan caught his fish near grass with a topwater frog in the morning and flipped grass pockets with a jig throughout the day. Previous to this event Aryan won the Fundraiser at Sooner lake, and secured a top 5 finish at the Okie Road Runner.
The next event on the schedule is the South Central Regions KBF Event at Ft. Gibson Lake on May, 23rd. This event will be hosted in conjunction with the OKA and KBF and all KBF rules will be applied. Including the allowing of trolling motors on kayaks. No OKA AOY points or NOY points will be distributed for this event, but nevertheless we are still expecting a large regional turnout for this KBF event. Hope to see you there and tight lines!
