Lake Murray Recap: Ainsworth catches 5 worth $1,000

The OKA Season Opener at Lake Murray presented by Dobyns Rods has concluded and turned out to be a giant success. 76 anglers from all reaches of the state came to test their skills on Lake Murray, in Ardmore Oklahoma. This number sets a new OKA attendance record for a single live event, previous openers have had between 60-70 anglers.The tournament was in doubt the week leading up to the event due to the covid-19 virus. The OKA board ultimately decided to go ahead with the Season Opener, but took several precautions for the safety of the anglers. The captains meeting planned for Rock Tower campground was canceled and reverted back to a Facebook live captains meeting and awards host Classic Interurban Bar and Grill was limited to top finishers only. Door Prizes as well as meeting new anglers, and fish stories will be rolled over to future events.

Angler Jake Ainsworth originally from Weatherford, Texas grew up fishing Possum Kingdom, and Granbury Lakes as well as the Brazos River. Ainsworth has been living in Norman, OK for the last 5 years and has learned how to fish Murray, Arbuckle, and Mountain lakes. " I practiced twice for this tournament earlier in March, and caught only one fish each day. I came into this tournament expecting a grind and I was right." Ainsworth compiled his 73", limit throughout the entire day catching his kicker 19.75" bass later in the day and filled his 5 fish limit at 1:30PM. Ainsworth was also deducted 2" for not having two different keepers mouths closed. However, this did not matter as he beat 2nd place angler Tou Vue by .75". Ainsworth used a YO-Zuri wake-bait, Rapala DT-10 and a Googan Squad Jerkbait around the edges of buck brush to catch his limit. The OKA looks forward to the upcoming events on the 2020 schedule and will do the due diligence necessary to make sure these events occur. The OKA is only as strong as the anglers who participate. 2021 OKA POWER Rankings, AOY, NOY and Much More

The 2021 OKA season is upon us and if you thought the 2020 trail events were a big deal just wait until you see what we got going on in 2021! As normal the OKA trail will crisscross the great regions of this state with a large pool of talented anglers in tow. Last season the OKA came out with its inaugural Power Rankings listing the top 15 anglers who are on the rise for the upcoming season. With the record attendance of 2020 the OKA has decided to expand the PWR Rankings to the top 25. OKA Event # 2 Recap: Barham wins at the end

OKA event #2 has concluded and as always the weather and fishing does its best to not cooperate. Anglers experienced low temperatures, intense fog, high winds, muddy water, and post cold front bass. However, top anglers always find a way to catch em' and put a 5-fish limit together. Out of 66 anglers only 116 bass were scored. Moreover, Only 9 anglers were able to fill the limit of 5 bass. As the saying goes, its called fishing and not catching for a reason. Nevertheless, someone always rises to the top to cash out the top payout.  Angler Chance Barham was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and has been fishing since he could walk. Barham has only been kayak fishing for the last year when he discovered Greg Blanchard's  kayak fishing channel on Youtube. Barham fished at Hominy Lake and used a green pumpkin Senko with the tip dipped in garlic chartreuse and dead-sticked it all day.
