We are at the end of an incredible OKA tournament trail season and was it one for the ages. Now before you hang the gear up for the winter season the OKA has one event left to go and that is the 2020 OKA State Championship at Lake Texoma Presented by tourneytag. This event will highlight the top 50 kayak anglers in the state of Oklahoma. Moreover, this event will show who the best angler is over 2 days on a giant 89,000 acre lake known as Texoma. The OKA will also award AOY champion Jason Ray and NOY champion Jack Miller their hardware and monetary prizes. An additional award The Sportsman of the Year will be given out to an angler who displays sportsmanship, and inspiration in life and the sport of kayak fishing. The Sportsman of the year will be awarded with a certificate and a bid to the All-American Kayak Classic who of which will be announced at the awards on Sunday, October 18th along with Ray, and Miller and the State Champion. All anglers will be receiving swag bags that include: tourneytag merchandise, an OKA neck gaiter, and a package of soft plastics provided by Cast Lures.
OKA sponsor tourneytag is the title sponsor the State Championship providing all 50 anglers with 2 decals, a koozie, and a touneytag ID sleeve. Additional door prizes were also provided such as 2 neck gaiters and 3 hats. The OKA - touneytag partnership began at the 2019 OKA State Championship when the OKA purchased 50 ID sleeves to be distributed to qualifying anglers. Tourneytag and the OKA paired up for the 2020 trail season passing out door prizes to participating anglers and now providing swag for state championship swag bags. Toureytag was founded by Bill Rodriguez in 2016 after fishing in CPR events. Per their website: "Touneytag keeps identifiers accessible, secure, and in place so you can capture the pictures you need to cash those checks."

As stated above Lake Texoma is a 89,000 acre reservoir on the border of Oklahoma and Texas that was completed in 1944 for flood control and recreation. The reservoir is comprised of the Red and Washita Rivers stopped by the Dennison Dam. All 3 species of black bass are in the the lake with the following records: 11.90lbs largemouth, 7.06lbs for smallmouth and 4.38lbs for spotted bass. Anglers will have their choice of fishing on the Texas or Oklahoma side. There are mixed answers about what license is needed for this tournament. Multiple sources state that Oklahomans fishing on the Oklahoma side need only a valid Oklahoma fishing license and visa versa for Texans. However, other sources state that every angler needs a Lake Texoma Fishing License. This license is $12 and can be purchased at Walmart in Durant or Dennison Texas or online. Hope to see you there!
