Lone Chimney, Hominy, and Pawnee Lakes Preview

The Oklahoma Kayak Anglers will be hosting its 2nd trail series event at Lone Chimney, Hominy, and Pawnee Lakes in Northern Oklahoma on April 4th. Originally this event was planned for Lone Chimney Lake only, but in accordance with social distancing and the prospective amount of anglers that may signup; the OKA decided to add Hominy and Pawnee Lakes. This will be a road runner event which means anglers may launch from any public boat ramp. Anglers may also began fishing one lake and trailer to anyone of these 3 lakes. This will be the first time the OKA has visited Lone Chimney, Hominy, and Pawnee Lakes in 7 seasons of hosting kayak tournaments. Angler of the Year points and Newcomer of the Year points will be earned, and as always the top 10% of anglers will be getting paid along with the Big Bass side pot. Lake Murray Recap: Ainsworth catches 5 worth $1,000

The OKA Season Opener at Lake Murray presented by Dobyns Rods has concluded and turned out to be a giant success. 76 anglers from all reaches of the state came to test their skills on Lake Murray, in Ardmore Oklahoma. This number sets a new OKA attendance record for a single live event, previous openers have had between 60-70 anglers.The tournament was in doubt the week leading up to the event due to the covid-19 virus. The OKA board ultimately decided to go ahead with the Season Opener, but took several precautions for the safety of the anglers. The captains meeting planned for Rock Tower campground was canceled and reverted back to a Facebook live captains meeting and awards host Classic Interurban Bar and Grill was limited to top finishers only. Door Prizes as well as meeting new anglers, and fish stories will be rolled over to future events. The Path to State: How to Qualify for the OKA State Championship

This October, 17th and 18th 2020, the Oklahoma Kayak Anglers will be hosting the annual State Championship on giant Lake Texoma. Tourney Tag will be the title sponsor for the event supplying: Tourney Tag sleeves, coozies, and decals for every qualifying angler. The State Championship is the event that every competitive kayak angler in the state of Oklahoma wants to qualify for. The State championship is an invitational event hosted at the end of the season for 50 of Oklahoma's best kayak anglers. This will be second year the OKA has hosted a 2 - day championship event. This article will lay out several different paths to qualify for the OKA State Championship at Lake Texoma. Making a Plan for Tournament Day

If you have fished at least two tournaments in your career you know that plans rarely stay the same on tournament day. We have all been there before, we put in time, effort, and money into researching, prefishng, and scowering Google Maps, and the internet for clues and information regarding a tournament lake or specific spot. Only to arrive and conditions have changed, your boat ramp is closed, or full of kayakers and boaters. What do you do next? Maybe your plan did work, that secluded boat ramp you found on maps was all yours when you pulled up but when you launched your kayak you found out that your main spot is now above water due to the Corps releasing water overnight. The question "what to do next?" is the million dollar question.
